Smarttek FAQ's

Your Smarttek Hot Water System Display screen will NOT turn on unless water is running through your unit.

No lights on the display could be caused by either Water Pressure or Flat/Damaged Batteries –

  • Check the water in and out are plugged in the correct direction – Water inlet should be closest to the Battery Box
  • Check for a blockage in your water gauze –  located inside your water inlet pipe
  • Open the battery box and pull down silver tabs located inside the battery compartment at the top. Reinsert batteries ensure the rear battery has positive facing down and the front battery has the negative facing down.
  • Ensure the on/off switch is in the ON position
  • Move you water dial to the MIN position.
  • If you are using a pump – check that your battery source is supplying 12V or moreFinally – Turn on water source, open your shower rose and flow water through your hot water system.
Test your System on Mains Water Pressure to eliminate water pressure issues.

If lights are still not coming on when you have water running through your system –
Complete Battery Test HERE and Check Water Pressure

If your batteries are reading well, as discovered in the test above – You can further test your system for water pressure issues, by connecting your water inlet to Mains Water Pressure. If Lights are then displaying on your LCD Screen, you know water pressure was causing your system not to operate initially.

  • Check your Smarttek water inlet valve for blockages in the gauze (remove little mesh metal guaze and clean – ensure free of any debris)
  • Check for a blockage in the hose by disconnecting each end and running water through your pump only.
Process of elimination to determine if there is a blockage
  • Ensure you have a minimum of 2 metres of water hose between your hot water system and the pump.

This is consistent with Dead or damaged Batteries OR it could be a temperature sensor being triggered.

Your Gas safety solenoid valve needs a constant 3V+ of power to remain open and provide gas to your Smarttek burners

First confirm if your lights are staying ON or OFF on your display screen.

If your lights remain ON
This means your water pressure is okay and the issue could be –

If your lights go OFF
This is caused by an inconsistency in the water pressure and you will need to –

  • Check your water inlet water gauze for any blockages in the mesh gauze located inside the water inlet
  • Check your pump for any blockages
  • Check your 12V battery source to ensure your pump is receiving over 12V of power.
  • If using a 4.3Lpm ensure your water dial is set to Minimum

In Summer Mode your system has ignited 2 gas burners. In Winter there is 6 Burners active.

First complete the temperature setting test to see if your system is operating as intended. CLICK HERE

If your system still cuts out on winter mode only, try putting your Gas dial to minimum and running it there for a moment, then slowly increase the gas.
It could just be getting a little to hot in there 😉 causing the Temperature Cut Off Sensor to kick in.
